Clipmoth — Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-11
These Terms govern your use of Clipmoth — the browser extensions and the desktop application (together, the "Software"). By installing, purchasing, or using the Software you agree to these Terms.
1. What Clipmoth is
Clipmoth is a tool that helps you download media files that are already accessible to you, and save them to your own device. All processing happens locally in your browser or on your computer. Clipmoth does not host, store, index, or distribute any media content.
2. License
The free tier is provided at no cost with a daily download limit. A Premium purchase is a one-time payment for a lifetime license granted to you, the purchaser, for your personal use across the devices and platforms you own or control. The license key is personal and non-transferable; please do not publish, resell, or share it. We may revoke keys that are shared publicly or obtained fraudulently.
3. Payment, delivery and refunds
- Premium is a single payment of USD 9.99 (or local equivalent). There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
- Payment is processed by our payment provider; we do not receive or store your full card details.
- Your license key is delivered by email immediately after successful payment. By completing the purchase you consent to immediate delivery of digital content.
- Refunds: if the Software does not work as described and our support cannot resolve it, contact us within 14 days of purchase at support@clipmoth.com for a full refund.
4. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for how you use the Software. You agree to download only content that you own or are otherwise legally entitled to save, and to comply with the terms of the sites you use and with all applicable laws, including copyright. Clipmoth is designed for lawful personal use (for example, saving your own uploads, public-domain material, or content you are licensed to keep). Do not use the Software to infringe anyone's rights.
5. Restrictions
The Software intentionally does not operate on DRM-protected streaming services or on sites whose terms prohibit downloading. You may not attempt to circumvent these restrictions, reverse-engineer the Software except as permitted by law, or use it to violate third-party rights.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Because the sites and streams you access are outside our control, we do not warrant that any particular file or website can be downloaded, or that the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clipmoth and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Software. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the Software. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.
8. Changes
We may update the Software and these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Commercial-transaction disclosures required under Japanese law are provided at the Specified Commercial Transactions Act notice.
